Vancouver Sia Show Cancelled!

this sucks..

.. let’s first start by saying that I need to mention the opening act: Body Language of New York. They were quite great!

Here’s a video of one of their performances at another event:

The place was pretty crowded, but the Commodore venue is quite accommodating. Then Sia came out..

I have been listening to Sia for 7 years now and funny enough I have never seen an interview of her in all those years: not once.  When she finally spoke, it was quite a delight to hear her cheery Australian voice.  She seems to be such an open and free spirit.  From wearing wings that fold out, to inviting people to sit on her knitted set to knit, to claiming her wings are made of all her self help books (and it looked like they were). Funny girl!  It is amazing how her happy voice can change so much when she goes to sing again. Two weeks ago, after seeing a Facebook ad for the tour, I jumped to get the tickets to the performance, and I am glad I did, but.. … halfway through the performance, Sia paused, and said she was having trouble with breathing: all that smoke.  Awww… way to go Vancouver!  Showing them your true side… haha!  There was so much weed in the air.. plus she had issues with her costume… she was not comfortable.   As a performer: I guess it comes down to making a decision, and I guess it’s better to sacrifice one date and one group of fans than to make your health worse and lose more coming dates and disappoint even more fans.

She has apologized again on twitter after the event: “i’m so sorry and disappointed, and i absolutely promise i will make it up to you Vancouver. i just couldn’t breathe and felt all fainty. oy.”

Let’s all hope she reschedules as promised. Keep an eye out on her twitter for updates:

How can u say half way through the show, she had only sang 3 songs. Does that mean she was going to only sing 6 anyway. Please.
Hopefully she makes good on this and we get our money back

For the record, they said it was heatstroke and heat exhaustion. I was right in front of her and I saw her starting to hyper-ventilate and it kept progressing. On the other hand, I saw The Dillinger Escape Plan the night before, and their shows are like running a marathon, most chaotic performances ever (jumping into the crowd, climbing railings, screaming right in people’s faces, etc).
This has me extremely confused. Could it be that she is unhealthy? She seems much thinner too which worries me a little.

Here are some pictures I took http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=410645&id=568375471&l=36c19f0265
as you can see, the set list was very disappointing, so I just hope the next show will have better/older songs.

Thanks for the video post.

Thanks for the comments guys. I know the video is shaky, but I was using a camera I don’t usually use for recording. :(
And wow, great pics Gab Lim! You are right though, she doesn’t look 100% up close.
Sorry ray brunette! After seeing the line up, you’re right it’s not halfway .. I guess it was about 1/3rd of the way that the performance stopped. I really hope that she reschedules, hope to see you guys there again! Sia rocks my world!
